Jess came home at 11:00 after her third class of Beginning French I. She didn't go to work, she just came home, went in the bedroom, and shut the door. I tried talking to her, but she didn't want to talk about it.
Eventually it came out: she didn't qualify for financial aid at Century. They went so far as accusing her of picking up a couple of credits "just to get a student loan." I'm sorry, but why should she be punished for making a choice of college that would be more financially responsible? Why shouldn't she be applauded for going with the less expensive option, rather than penalized for having a bachelor's degree? What's wrong with this scenario?
Then I attended my first class of "Families, Schools, and Communities" which I suspect I'll like... all seven classes of it.
Thursday I went to an orientation/set-up day at Oak-Land. By 11:00 I was done doing anything truly useful. The rest of the day was puttering around, occasionally putting up a poster, and chatting with teachers I like (none of whom I'm with this year!)
Today I have homework to do, then I'm going hunting for a second job, and this evening I have to help Jess set up props for the show she's Stage Managing with New Breath Productions... possibly the last show she'll ever Stage Manage. (Burnout issues.)
On the upside, I just recently took some cute pictures of my and Skulle, though a few of them strung together look like a bad magic trick in progress! Showing here:
